Somnath is small town in Indian state of Gujarat. In Somnath, Somnath temple attracts hindu pilgrim from India and International tourist from world and best visiting place in Gujarat and Gujarat most beautiful place.  

ABOUT SOMNATH TEMPLE:-

Somnath is famous for lord Shiva temple and it is very old temple and also one of the JYOTIRLING and best visiting place in Gujarat.These are another Hindu pilgrim place. Somnath temple is very beautiful and situated in coast of Arabian Sea. Temple is made for lord Shiva and Shiva ling is situated inside the temple. Temple is open all the days. Somnath temple is spread in large area. You can find big parking space outside the temple. You have to make some foot step to reach at entrance of the temple from the parking area. In the entrance of temple, you can find entry and exit area, but in common floor. Here you have to pass through security check, mans and women’s separate. After successful security check, you have pass through long open sky lone with marble floor. In the path ways of lone, you will find green carpet for all pilgrims. Purpose of these green carpet is protect our feet from hot floor, because lone is open to sly and floor become very hot during the day time. Big lone provide the comfort, during pilgrims crowd are heavy. After passing through open sky lone you will reach front door of the temple. From here Shiva ling is 4 to 5 ft away from you. You can easily do the DHARSHAN of Shiva ling but can’t touch it. Inside the temple and beside of lane railing some space is available. From here you should seat on floor after DHARSHAN. When you seat temple floor, after few second you feel coldness in your body and calmness in your mind. It is really dramatic feeling and make these place as a best visiting place in Gujarat and best places to visit in Gujarat in december.

Somnath temple is placed on platform and platform spread around the whole temple. Platform provides some to the temple. When you come out form main temple, Arabian Sea is around you, means that you can look sea from the temple. As I said Somnath temple is spread in long space. Temple is very near to Sea and you can feel the moist air into your face, when you standing at the boundary of temple. It is really amazing feeling and also when you see waves come out from the sea the end his gaze after colliding with the big rocks at the shore of Sea. Sound come from the waves will definitely dazzled you. Everything around the temple is very good and it provides good feeling in us and make Somnath as a best visiting place in Gujarat and Important place to visit in Gujarat.

One activity is available here and that is binocular. Binocular is fixed in small room for seeing long distance in sea. This facility is available on changeable basis.

In the evening temple management organise one film show about all JYOTIRLING present in India. The film telling you about location and importance of JYOTIRLING. This film background voice is given by Shri Amitabh Bachchan. It is good knowledge gaining film. I suggest you must see that. Somnath is also best holiday place in Gujarat.

HOW TO REACH SOMNATH:-

Somnath is situated at coastal of sea. Somnath have a railway station and some connectivity from Vadodara and Ahmadabad. Distance between Ahmadabad to Somnath is approx. 410 km by road. The nearest airports are Diu, which are around 65 km. Tourist from India or International, they have to reach first Vadodara or Ahmadabad. From Vadodara or Ahmadabad, you can choose any one option of mode of travel. This may be by car or by train. When I was visited Somnath, I have travelled by bus. Some time it is depend of availability, weather we get train ticket easily or booking of bus. Travelled through public transports are cheaper than personal hire car or taxi. When you travel through the bus or car from Ahmadabad, it is nearly take 6 to 7 hour to reach Somnath and if start journey from Vadodara add 2.5 hour more. Trains and buses are same, because you can’t stop where you want, but in person car or taxi you can enjoy every move of these best visiting place in Gujarat. Somnath is also popular place in Gujarat.

STAY IN SOMNATH:-

Every journey wants stay, which may be in between the way or destination. Good hotels are available in Somnath, when I was in Somnath I stayed in Hotel Somnath sagar. This hotel is near to railway station. Charges of hotel Rs 3000 per night and I have booked hotel in higher cost, because I have booked hotel only one day before that why rate is higher. Anyway temple is 2 to 3 km from my staying hotel.

It is become very necessary of proper planning should be done. If proper planning done you can get best hotel in reasonable rate. Somnath is Hindu religion visiting place and many DHARMASHALA from different Hindu religion are also available. As you know hotel can pre-booked, but my experience is that we can also pre-booked DHARMASHALA because of internet facility. So I suggest avoid on spot booking because on spot booking creates un-comfortless, irritation and tension, when you will not get right hotel in one visit.

I haven’t seen any hotel, which is very near to Somnath temple, if you will find hotel keep me post. In all hotels in Somnath, you will find little rusting or corrosion in bathroom, toilet and door. Please don’t get irritate it’s just because of salty atmosphere. In my staying hotel, hotel management display of notice about salty atmosphere. 

Always try for DHARMASHALA booking also, because you can get AC room with double bed in the rate of Rs 1000 per night. I also tried for the same but not succeed.

CULTURE IN SOMNATH:-

Somnath is near to sea and in Gujarat and most prepared language is Gujarati. Somnath is small town and people of Somnath not totally dependent only on tourism. As I mentioned and observed during my visit, many fisherman are running their life by catching the fish or we can sat by fishing. Arabian Sea make’s another source of income for Somnath people.

The place that situated at coastal of Sea, always has option doing the different business. You can see thousand of small and middle size wooden boats are lying at shore, when the fisherman’s are not allowed to go in Sea. I saw big wooden boat which is final stage of manufacturing. I saw this type of wooden boat first time in my life.

I travel inside the Somnath with auto. The Auto driver told me the approx. cost boat is Rs 70.0 lacs. When boat is ready to sail in the sea, the fisherman’s carry the boat at shore with music band and dancing. They celebrated the first journey of the boat. Many things happen in life first time and same is happen with me. My mind becomes a curious, how’s fisherman’s life gone. When I knew this, I feel good in myself and gain good experience about best visiting place in Gujarat and somnath is in list of must visitng place in Gujarat.

When you ride through the street of Somnath, you will smell the fish. These smells are spread throughout the Somnath. When fish smell touches your nostrils you get irritate immediately. If you are not familiars with fish smell, keep hanker chief in your hand or use mask. I have used mask during my visit.

Market is spread around the temple; here you can find traditional and non-traditional item as usual other tourism place. You can buy something to keep Somnath temple as a memory and also help to shopkeeper life survival. Somnath is famous tourist place in Gujarat.

FOOD IN SOMNATH:-

Every food is available in Somnath. When I am travelling in Gujarat, I always felt Gujarati taste in every food. Gujarati food is light sweet, but in Somnath you taste the food as you want. When I was in Somnath I have taken my lunch in Punjabi restaurant and dinner in stating hotel. Hotels are providing lunch and dinner, only you have to give pre-intimation for the same. Somnath is also top tourist place in Gujarat.

I also taste of pani puri, just to know the taste difference and you can’t believe taste of pani puri same as M.P., Rajasthan and Maharashtra. 

Always choose good restaurant in a view of hygiene, because when you are in the travel it is very easy to getting sick so take precautions accordingly.
